I'm guessing pins are for you're player card and badges are rewards.

i think we should have pins like club penguin do, and at the bottom of the player card there will be a row, and in that row you will see a line of icons, these will be your badges!

i'll ask crown if I can edit the player card quickly and give another sneak peek...
