Staff Application

heya Admins!

I thought i'd apply for some kind of techie person because I can code the website, get it on a server and get the domain. I am good with computers.

Other reasons:
I am a fast worker, and I am very reliable/useful. I can supply the domain and server space. I am also not very busy, so when I am not doing your website or school work, i can be advertising, and earning money to keep us going!

I can also get us some cool emails!!! like: support@crocodileswamp.com or fanmail@crocodileswamp.com

I can even get us a webmail* server so that it is all online and no other setup is required!
And I can supply forums, blogs and galleries, even an area where people can submit fan art!

it is not for forum staff, only in-game staff, if you are going to be in game staff, you will get your own email (ghost@crocodileswamp.com) - but that isn't a great name for little kids

Support@crocodileswamp.com will be controlled by Croc, Crown and me

Croc and crown are head admins, i am site manager

Agreed, I looked it up on Yahoo Answers and this is what I got:

To run your own web mail service, you need the following:

1. A domain name. eg: mydomain.com so that users will have email ids such as john@mydomain.com etc.
2. A SMTP server which is actually the mail server, which sends out and receives emails. For this there are host of softwares available such as microsoft exchange, Lotus Domino etc. On the freeware side, you have sendmail, qmail, postfix
3. If you are using the commercially available SMTP servers such as exchange or lotus then no worry. They give you web interface to access emails. If you go with the freeware solution then to make your mail service accessible over the internet using web interface you need to run a web server along with a webmail software. Examples here are again:

Web server: apache
Webmail: squirrelmail, openwebmail etc.

And of course a static IP address(es) to host these services.

If you are going for the freeware solution recommend running on linux rather than on XP.
